Wyanza Nell Pierce, age 87, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 13 th after a lengthy illness.
Wyanza was born in McAdoo, Texas, to Neoma and Leonard Stephenson and grew up in Crosby County. While attending Crosbyton High School, she met and began dating Donald Pierce and they soon fell in love. They were married June 25, 1954 and that love nurtured them through 68 years of marriage. Wyanza and Donald settled in Lubbock in 1968 and raised their family of three children. They have been dedicated members of Southcrest Baptist Church for over 27 years.
Before marrying, Wyanza briefly attended Tarlton State University. After moving to Lubbock, she worked for Plains Cotton Cooperative for a few years and then for Whitson-King Food Broker as Office Manager for over 30 years.
Wyanza was preceded in death by her parents, Neoma Stephenson Jones and Leonard Stephenson and by her brothers Donald Stephenson and Billy Joe Stephenson.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; her brother, Fred Randall Stephenson of La Junta, CO, as well as her children, Terry Pierce (Julie) of Amarillo, TX, Michelle Stuart (Jimmy) of Palmetto, FL and Felicia Bundick (Jerry) of Midland, TX; grandsons, Timothy Pierce (Meredith), Thomas Pierce, Jake Rittenhouse (Danielle), Jared Rittenhouse and Eric Rittenhouse; granddaughter, Rachel Rabon (Chase); and great-grandsons James Pierce, Aaron Pierce, Benjamin Pierce, Joseph Pierce, and Theodore Rabon.
Visitation will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church, 3801 South Loop 289, Lubbock, Texas 79423 on Tuesday, September 20 at 1:00 pm with the Funeral services following at 2:00 pm. (Services will be available live on Southcrestlive.tv). Burial will follow at Crosbyton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southcrest Baptist Church School or Building Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.adamsfuneral.com.
