Wilma Benton, 92, of Lubbock, formerly of Lorenzo, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was born March 10, 1924 in Greenville, TX to Curtis and Lucille (Flesher) Baker. Wilma grew up in the Estacado and Lorenzo communities and attended Lorenzo High School. She married Woodrow "Woody" Benton on January 31, 1941 in Clovis, NM. Wilma worked for Lorenzo Textile for many years and was a former member of Lorenzo First Baptist Church and Elm Grove Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow "Woody" Benton; three infant sons; her granddaughter, Camala Hunt Smith; her grandson; David Collazo; one sister and four brothers.

Wilma is survived by her seven children; Wayne Benton and wife Jan of Amarillo; Shirley Benton Hunt and husband Calvin of Amarillo; Carolyn Kirkpatrick and husband Mike of Slaton; Roger Benton and wife Judy of Amarillo; Lanita Goodrum and husband Brad of Lubbock; Lisa Odgers of Fort Worth; Linda Coffman of Lubbock; her brother; Ronald Baker and wife Judy of Irving; her sister; Lana Harman of Burleson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm Sunday, June 12, at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo. Services will be held 10 am Monday, June 13, at the Idalou Cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Shroyer officiating. Burial will follow in Idalou Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
