Willie Edward "Bill" Pickard, 96, of Petersburg, passed away Thursday March 3, 2016 in Lubbock. Bill was born May 25, 1919 in Josephine, Texas to William and Nina (Herring) Pickard. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. He married Syble Lynn Hodges in Houston, Texas on May 8, 1946. Bill was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist for many years, and had worked for the Farmers Home Administration in Plainview. He was a Shriner, was a member of the Levelland Masonic Lodge #1236 and was a 32 degree Mason. Bill was a farmer for many years in Levelland.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Nina; his wife Syble; and a son Wayne.

Bill is survived by his daughter; Ruth Ann Barton of California; Edward Pickard of San Antonio; Philip Ira Pickard of Lorenzo; seven grandchildren; Noah, Amanda, Justin, Rebekah, Ben, Cybbi, and Sarah; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 3 to 4 pm Sunday, March 6 at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo. Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, March 7 at the Pickard Family Farm, with burial following in Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
