Walter Samuel Scheef, 93, of Lubbock, formerly of Lorenzo, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. He was born March 2, 1923 in Houston, TX. Walter courted the love of his life, Barbara Leon, while attending Southwestern University in Georgetown, where the couple both earned Bachelor's degrees. They were happily married for 64 years before Barbara's passing on September 19, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Walter was a business owner, farmer, longtime member of the Lubbock Barbershop Chorus, and choir director for 35 years for the Methodist Church in both Lorenzo and Petersburg. Walter was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and had many friends that will miss him dearly.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; a brother; and two sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children; David Scheef and wife Cinda; Jenny Stout and husband Paul; Sam Scheef and wife Jana; seven grandchildren; Brian, Andrew, Emily, Stephanie, Whitney, Spencer and Alex; three great grandchildren; his sister Anna Barker of Cordero, TN; and sister-in-law Linda Zachary of Lewisville, TX.

A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, December 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Lorenzo. Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lorenzo.
