Vida Mae (Nitcholas) Woodard, 86, of Ralls went to meet her Lord Tuesday, May 3, 2016. She was born March 23, 1930 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Hardy Pope "Preach" and Lena Agnes (Randles) Nitcholas. She moved to Crosby County (Old Emma) in August of 1945 and attended Ralls High School before moving to Robertson, Texas where she graduated as Valedictorian on May 13, 1948. Vida married Willis Ray Woodard on September 23, 1949 in Robertson, Texas. They moved to Caprock, where they lived until 1977 when they moved to Ralls, Texas. She loved to quilt and belonged to the Canyon Valley Quilting Club, Caprock Quilting Club, and the Prairie Thimble Quilters which she loved so much. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ralls. She loved singing with the FBC Choir and Glory Singers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W Ray Woodard; and a sister, Melba Jean Schmidt.
Vida is survived by her son Kenneth Woodard and wife Terri of Allen, Texas; her daughter, Brenda Estep and husband Phillip of Ralls, Texas; her grandson Mickey Beshirs and wife Kassi of Matador, Texas; two granddaughters; Misty Smith and husband Weldon of Post, Texas; Amy Gibbs and husband Matt of Abilene, Texas; four great-grandsons; Edward Kade Smith of Post, Texas; Clayton Kyler Beshirs and Rylynn Ray Beshirs of Matador,Texas; and Cason Ray Gibbs of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Nitcholas and wife Lee of Carrollton, Texas; three sisters; Ruth Turner of Odessa, Texas; Bea Burelsmith and husband Ronie of Gardendale, Texas; Linda Cave and husband Donald of Idalou, Texas; and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Ralls, Texas. Interment will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Ralls, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, it was Vida's wish that memorials be sent to the Ralls EMS.
