Verna Lee (Pentico) Williams, a loving Nana to many and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ralls, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 25, 2023, at the age of 81.
Services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Verna was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on December 30, 1941, three weeks after Pearl Harbor. She married Weldon Williams of Ralls, Texas, on June 9, 1975, and they were together until his passing in 2005.
Verna was known for her warm hospitality, her delicious noodles, and her love of games, puzzles, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was also a devoted member of her church, where she grew in her faith through Bible study and Sunday school class.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents Guy Alonzo Pentico, Sr. and Eva Blanche (McClure) Pentico; siblings Guy Alonzo Pentico, Jr., Homer Austin Pentico, Carolyn Messimer, Darlene Stewart, Anna Pentico, Clair Pentico, Lillian Pentico, and Linda Rae Pentico; children Terri (Adkins) Abell, Jay Williams, Homer Dean "Butch" Fair, Belinda Rendon, and Stephany (Williams) Duran.
Verna is survived by her son, Alton Adkins, and wife Amy of Fort Worth, Texas; stepdaughter Ollie Ellison and husband Gary of Casa Grande, Arizona; and grandchildren LaTasha, LaTrisha, Amanda, Chris, James, Kevin, Tiffany, Craig, Steven, Bethany, Benjamin, Patrick, Jaime, Marylou, Jacob, and Benjamin. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Alexia, Reagan, Mollie, Kierstan, Patrick, Laurel, Tyler, Trey, Stephanie, Garett, Isaiah, and great-great-grandchild Sadie, Jess'Lynn, Jazz'Lynn, Josiah, and Joziah.
Verna was a loving and generous woman who touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community.
