Terry Kay Rainwater 59 of Roaring Springs passed away Sunday August 5, 2018 in Lubbock. Terry was born March 6, 1959 in Lubbock, Texas to Harrison " Sonny " and Shirley Brooks Watson.
Terry was a 1977 graduate of Ralls High School and made the front page of the newspaper her freshman year by becoming one of the first two girls to join the Ralls chapter of the Future Farmers of America. She would later become the President of the organization and was awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree. This is the highest degree of membership the State FFA Association can award. Kevin and Terry met in Ralls in 1973 and were married on March 19, 1977. In 1978, Terry went to work with her father at Watson Cotton Company as a cotton buyer. In 1980, she applied for her insurance license and began selling crop insurance for Kay Reese. She later started her own agency Terry Rainwater Crop Insurance before finally adding in property and casualty insurance with Caprock Insurance. She won the president's award from USAG in 1995, 96, 97, 98 and again in 2002 for being a top selling crop insurance agent. She also won many awards for being a top Allstate Agent allowing her to travel to San Diego, San Francisco, and Hawaii for the Allstate conventions. Terry helped get the first Cotton Boll Fest started. Terry has also served 2 ½ terms on the Ralls City Council. Her dedication to 4-H and FFA has been recognized by both Crosby and Motley County.
She is survived by her husband Kevin Rainwater of Roaring Springs, two daughters; Amy Rainwater and Gabe Puente of Ralls, Raegan Todd and husband Robert of Lubbock, one son Shane Rainwater of Ralls, brother Newel Watson and wife L'Rae of Ralls, two sisters; Shannon Wilson and husband Jon of Seymour, Keitha Estes and Jim Parks of Ralls, and one grandchild Christopher Rainwater of Lubbock.
Visitation will be Tuesday August 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 8, at the First Baptist Church in Ralls. Graveside Service will be 3:00 p.m. at the Brooks Family Cemetery in Roaring Springs.
