Salome Vega, Sr., 64, of Crosbyton passed away January 14, 2022. He was born October 22, 1957 in Caldwell, TX to Richard and Pauline Valderez Vega.

Salome moved to Crosbyton in 1959 with his parents and siblings. He married Irma Castillo on February 7, 1977. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, raising animals and listening to music. Even when it became difficult to walk much he enjoyed teaching and showing his children and grandchildren how to work in the fields to provide for their family. He liked to watch football and wrestling. Most of all, he loved to spend time with family. He never missed one of his grandchildren's events. Salome enjoyed going to church, and was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Irma; five sons, Salome Vega, Jr., Daniel Vega, David Vega (Sulema), and Samuel Vega (April) all of Crosbyton, and Frank Pacheco, III (Veronica) of Borger; three daughters, Jessica Vega (Justin Gallegos), Esperanza Bustos (Santos), and Nora Fira (Willie) all of Crosbyton; four sisters, Erlinda Carrasco, Rosa Ortega, Maria Guerrero and Josephina Tambunga; thirty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Salome was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Manuel Vega; one daughter, Kirstie Justice; one brother, Richard Vega, Jr.; and one sister, Lena Pacheco.
