Obituary

Rosalyn Rainwater, 89 of Dougherty, moved to her eternal home on Friday July 12th, 2024. Born to Linnie and Edith McDermett on October 3rd 1934; she was the fourth born of seven. Rosalyn's celebration of life will be on Tuesday, July 23rd with a visitation at 9:00am followed by a service at 10:00 at Floydada Methodist Church. Burial to follow at Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Rosalyn graduated from Ralls High School in 1953 and soon began nursing school. She married Wayne Rainwater on January 7th, 1955. After being in Washington state for Wayne's service in the US Army, the couple settled in Dougherty, TX. Their home is where they reared 4 sons and was the setting of decades of celebrations, crocheting and sewing. She made clothes for her children, grandchildren (and her granddaughters' baby dolls). She even custom made crib bedding for each new great-grand baby which will forever be cherished.
Wayne and Rosalyn loved traveling in their RV, camping with their family and friends in Tres Ritos, New Mexico and fishing at Possum Kingdom Lake. She regularly delivered home-made meals to Wayne on the farm, drove a truck and stayed close to her radio where she responded to "WSF-226 to base".
Rosalyn is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Rainwater; her parents, Linnie and Edith McDermett; brothers, Hugh David McDermett and Lawrence McDermett; and sisters, Helen Jenkins, Joyce Whitehead, Dorothy Collins and Jean Ayers.
Rosalyn is survived by her 4 sons: Michael and Karol of Dougherty, Andy and Kay, Randy and Sharon (of Floydada) and Carlos and Melinda (of Southlake); 11 grandchildren: David and Danon Rainwater (Shaeleigh, Emri);  Matthew and Kember Rainwater (Kyler, Kanon, Lincoln); Brady and Cherise Rainwater (Rhett, Tyce, Georgia); Denise and Jonny Maciel; Taryn and Cliff Colvin (Jaelynn); Eric and Lauren Rainwater; Brandon and Sarah Rainwater; Adam and Nikki Rainwater (Kaston, Kade, Tatum, Britynn, Try); Jennifer and Chance Hanes (Ellie, Addie, River);  Rachel Rainwater; Reagan and Hannah Rainwater (Baby R).
