Ronnie Lanc McCravey, 79, of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022. Ronnie was born June 26, 1943 in Ralls, TX to R.B. and Dessie McCravey. He grew up in the Floydada and Lakeview area and at a young age went to work for a local ranch. He worked at the Pitchfork, Swenson, and Matador ranches, and then at the age of twenty-one he went to serve his country as a Marine. Between 1964 and 1970 he did two tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Sergeant. In 1970 he married Melba Wallace and they had two children. Ronnie worked as a cowboy for many years and in 1987 he went to work to for the road department with Lea County, NM where he retired from after 28 years of service. Ronnie was very proud of his family and of his service to his country. He was loved by many. He and Melba lived in Jal, NM for 42 years before moving to Lubbock in 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Lee (DL) McCravey, a sister, Joy Finley, and a nephew, Cy McCravey.

He is survived by his wife Melba, a daughter Peggy and husband Ron Jones of Shallowater, TX, a daughter Ronda and husband Paul Castillo of Odessa, TX, a sister, Sherron McCravey of Lubbock, TX, a granddaughter Kristina and Husband Ryan Boyd of Lubbock, TX, a grandson Rhys Hallman and fiancé Amy of Pittsburg, TX, a granddaughter Rhianna Hallman of Odessa, TX, and great grandsons Hunter and James. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Carolyn Awbrey Fund (Jal NM) or a charity of your choice.
