Roman Esparza Jr., 85, of Ralls passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 with his family by his side. Roman was born June 16, 1931 in Presidio, Texas to Ramon and Genoveva Rey Esparza. He married Santos Bernal on February 20, 1952 in Ft. Stockton, Texas. Roman was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Cursillista men's organization. He was a devoted husband and father and a respected member of the community, who had a really fun sense of humor.
Roman is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister; Ofelia Martinez.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Santos Esparza of Ralls; three daughters; Olga Peacock and husband Larry of Fredericksburg; Oralia (Raleigh) Tirion and husband Pieter of Smithville; Olivia Myers of Kerrville; and one son; Oscar Esparza of Denver, Colorado. He leaves behind eight brothers; Manuel and wife Elisa; Ernest and wife Paula; Cruz and wife Estella; Salvadore; Rudy; Edmond and wife Ana Berta; Edward and wife Linda; and Richard and wife Josie Esparza; three sisters; Virginia Torres and husband Felix; Amelia Luna and husband Armando; and Belia Tovar; six grandchildren; Alison Jones Barron & husband Cole; Troyce & Ty Peacock; Tara Peacock Kunz & husband Kyle; Lisa & Nick Tirion; six-great grandchildren; Shiloh Ottmers; Kaylin & Kannon Kunz; Paityn Peacock; Braylee & Cash Barron.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with burial following in the Ralls Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A rosary will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
