Rebecca
Cantu
Mar 18, 1948 — Dec 9, 2021
Rebecca Rodriguez Cantu, 73 of Crosbyton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 9th, 2021. She was born March 18, 1948 in Laredo, Texas to Marcelino and Raquel Rodriguez.
Becky and her family traveled all over the US working before settling in Crosbyton in 1959. She joined Job Corp when she was 16 years old and was stationed in Guthrie, OK. She enjoyed working and helping her parents take care of her younger siblings. Rebecca married the love of her life, Augustine Cantu, Sr. on February 19, 1972 in Ralls, TX as St. Michael's Catholic Church. She loved to care for people, and it showed in her work. She worked for places such as South Plains Health Providers in Crosbyton, Reeves Rhodes Assisted Living, Crosbyton Home Health and Interim Home Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Becky had a loving personality and kind spirit. Her family was the center of her world. She loved watching her children and grandchildren grow up and participate in all their school activities. Becky would proudly support them and all of their friends in whatever they did. Becky was strong in her faith and an active member of San Jose Catholic Church as a CCE teacher and Guadalupanas. Teaching her children about our Lord and Savior was extremely important, but teaching the youth of San Jose was just as important to her. She taught the sacrament of First Holy Communion for many years. Becky enjoyed playing bingo with her family and shopping with her sisters. She could spend hours upon hours with them talking, laughing and reminiscing about their childhood. She also loved cooking and having family gatherings at her home. She was happiest when her home was full. Survivors include her children Roxanne Cantu of Crosbyton, Gus Cantu and wife D'Nell of Petersburg, Angela Guerrero and husband Tony of Crosbyton, Ashley Cantu of Crosbyton and Alyson Ries and husband Jonathan of Canyon. Grandchildren Jared Cantu, Kiana Vasquez, Santos Bustos and wife Esperanza, Averi Cantu, Aaron Cantu, Marcos Guerrero, Matthew Guerrero, Joshua Cantu, Rachel Ries and her great grandsons Ezekiel and Easton Bustos. Her siblings Rachel Cervantes and late husband Demetrio of Ennis, Rosa Martinez and late husband Pat of Crosbyton, Mary Guzman and husband Jesse of Ft. Worth, Marta Pena and husband Sebastian of Crosbyton, Mamie Tells and husband Robert of Brownfield, Victor Rodriguez and wife Isabel of Lubbock, and brother in law Santos Martinez of Woodrow.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Maggie Martinez.
Rebecca left this world and entered Heaven's gates with the love of her life of almost 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to San Jose Catholic Church or Hospice of the South Plains.
