Owen Keith Crump passed away Saturday August 14, 2021. He was born July 10, 1931 in Ralls, TX to Owen and Fay Crump. He married Wanda McKee on November 26, 1953 in McFarland, CA.
Owen Keith joined the Navy in January 1951 and served four years aboard the Rochester, a heavy cruiser. He was awarded the Commendation Ribbon with Combat Distinguishing Device from Vice Admiral J.J. (Jocko) Clark, USN, Commander of the Seventh Fleet. Upon honorable discharge from the US Navy, he and Wanda returned to Crosbyton where he went to work as a clerk at the US Post Office, along with working the family farm. He took over the rural mail route from his father Owen Crump in 1960. Owen Keith retired from the Post Office August 2, 1986.
Owen Keith was an accomplished pilot, had a love of riding motorcycles, and enjoyed fishing. His interest in model airplanes began as a young child and that passion spanned a period of 83 years. He continued to build model airplanes until his death.
Owen is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wanda, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Cavanagh of Lubbock, TX; Scarlet Bromley (Scott) of Lovington, NM; a nephew Greg Thomas (Jane) of Chacon, NM. Owen had six grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Alyssa, Michael, Kristin, and Justin. He had six great grandchildren; Shane, Landon, Lyle, Rayce, Berkeley, and Emersyn.
Owen was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Guess and Frances Watson, and his parents Owen and Fay Crump.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Animal Rescue of Crosby County, PO Box 561, Crosbyton, TX 79322
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 19, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Crosbyton. Burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
