Monroe Gage, 92, of Croton went to be with his Lord on September 12, 2017. He was born on July 16, 1925 in Croton, Texas to Monroe Bell and Ella Mae (Pernell) Gage. Monroe grew up in Croton and began farming at a very young age and continued farming until retiring in the late 1980's. He also worked for the Boll Weevil Eradication Program for many years and even assisted with designing the trap to capture Boll Weevils. Monroe loved to hunt, fish, and cook. He was also a great story teller and was the ultimate practical joker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Gage on September 16, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
Monroe is survived by his daughter, Nancy Gage Roberts and husband Larry of Roaring Springs; three grandchildren, Jerry Long and wife Jan of Paducah, Jalene Timmins and husband Rick of Ackerly, Janeile Davis and husband Scott of Lubbock; nine great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 18, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Dickens. Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
