Obituary

Melva Jo Swaringen Rigsby of McAdoo, entered into Heaven on July 13, 2016 from San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15th at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton from 6 to 7 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 1:30pm at First Baptist Church in McAdoo with Rev. Robby Harris and Rev. Ruben Osuna officiating.

Melva was born on June 24, 1927 in Matador, Texas to James A. and Laura Carlisle Swaringen. She moved with her family to Dickens County and graduated from Spur High School. She worked for many years at the Spur Security Bank. She married Jabez Harold Rigsby on August 16, 1954 in Spur, Texas. They made their home on their farm east of McAdoo where they lived until moving to Lubbock in 2007. In 2013 they moved to San Antonio. Melva was a member of First Baptist Church of McAdoo where she served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer. She was a member of Woodrow Baptist Church when they moved to Lubbock. She was a wonderful homemaker and cared for her family with great love. The last years of her life were spent caring for Jabez until he passed away on March 30, 2015 from Alzheimer's. Burial will be in the McAdoo Cemetery.

She is survived by their children: Pamela and Ruben Osuna of Bulverde, Tom and Julie Rigsby of Ruidoso, N.M., and Janice and Frank Amaro of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kevin and Julianna Osuna of Norman, OK, Brian Osuna and fiancé Camari Crawford of Falls City, Jason and Lori Osuna of Bulverde, Kelly and Brandon Johnson of Tulsa, OK, Allison Rigsby of Taos, NM, Jacob Rigsby of Denver, CO, Matthew Rigsby of Ruidoso, NM, Travis Amaro of San Antonio, Austin & Ali Amaro of San Antonio; and great-grandchildren, Esperanza, Valencia, Savannah, Sutton, and Sumner Osuna and Mabrey Johnson; one brother, Pete Swaringen of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Helen Swaringen of Brownfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters: Gertrude Bradley, Thelma Gregory and Zora Mae (Dot) Ward; seven brothers: Claude, A.A. (Curley), Woodrow, J.H.(Hub), J. E. (Jake), Bill and Kenneth Swaringen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to First Baptist Church McAdoo, McAdoo Volunteer Fire Department, McAdoo Cemetery Association or a favorite charity.
