Meliton Gorostiza, 72, of Ralls, TX passed away on July 25, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1953 in Hidalgo County, TX to Martin and Maria Esquivel Gorostiza.

In his early life, Meliton worked as a cotton ginner, and worked at West Texas Gin in Crosbyton for several years. He loved dancing, spending time with family,  and lowrider cars.  In the 1970's Meliton moved to Fresno California where he started a family and spent many years there. He belonged to a lowrider car club while living in California.  He later relocated back to Lubbock in the late 1990's.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Melody Gorostiza-Tovar(Genaro Tovar); three grandchildren; Mia, Gabriel, and Lil Genaro;  Three great grandchildren; Audrianna, Alexus, and Julian all of California; three brothers, Santos Gorostiza of California, Joe Luis Gorostiza of Dallas, and Jaime Gorostiza of Lubbock; three sisters, Olga Gorostiza of Weslaco, TX, Minerva Castillo of Dallas, and Yolanda Rendon of Ralls; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Meliton was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Martin Gorostiza, Jr., Rojelio Gorostiza, Pedro Gorostiza, and Richard Gorostiza, and three sisters, Diana Martinez, San Juanita Nieto and Rosaura Gorostiza.
