Services for Mary Helen Wicks Jamerson, 82, of Ralls will be 3PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Ralls Methodist Church with Scott Richards and Rev. Larry Bass officiating.The family will have a visitation in the Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, TX.
She was born July 5, 1940 in Austin, TX to Mildred and L.A. "Mike" Wicks, Jr. She married James H. Jamerson on March 13, 1959. He died August 22, 2017. She was a member of the Ralls Methodist Church.
She retired from 31 years of service as City Administrator of Ralls, Texas. She was awarded for her dedicated work to the community. She was awarded Ralls Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 1975 and 1996. She was named City Secretary of the Year by the South Plains Chapter in 1981, '82 and '95. At the 29 th General Assembly of the South Plains Association of Government she was awarded the Community Service Award. She was named the EMS Educator of the year by the South Plains EMS in 1995. She and James were instrumental in the creation of Ralls EMS and taught EMT classes all over this part of the South Plains. Mary Helen was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Ralls Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Jamerson, and his late wife Tina; a daughter, Kathylyn Sedgwick and husband Dale of Ralls; a brother, L.A. "Michael" Wicks, III, and wife Hadra of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Sarah Jamerson and wife Cortni, David Jamerson, Spencer Sedgwick, Saryssa VanBibber and spouse Brice "Bree" VanBibber and William and Jessica Allbrook; and two great-granddaughters, Jewelie Jamerson and Katy Allbrook.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Animal Rescue of Crosby County or Dusty Puddles Rescue of Lubbock.
