Obituary

Kathryn (Maw) Foster was born on March 10, 1936, in Ada Oklahoma to Elbert and Artie (Jackson) Brinlee. She celebrated her 90th birthday this year. Kathryn was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Crosbyton for 79 years and boy did she love Jesus! As a young woman, she was employed at various businesses in Crosbyton, including Chieftain Drug Store, Wallace Dry Goods and Crosbyton Sewing Factory. She also owned and operated a small café, The Koffee Kup, which was next door to her husband, Dalmer's barber shop, The Keen Kut. She was a Master Seamstress and Quilter in which she found great joy in making quilts for family and especially the grands and great grands.  In 1972, she began a 48-year career at Citizens Insurance Agency, where she was often teased that she had forgotten more about insurance than most people will ever know! She loved her work and her customers. Kathryn was always a dedicated, hardworking, loving woman and we will miss her greatly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dalmer Gowens, husband J.W. Foster, her son Mike Gowens and her sister, Donna Beth Williams.

She is survived by her son, Gary Gowens and wife Susan; her daughter, Kittie Hamersley and husband Gary; her sister, Peggy Brundidge; Seven grandchildren; Blair Gowens, Jared Gowens, April Gowens, Jill Gowens, James Gowens, Maggie Van Hoose, and Megan Garcia; 17 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild. She also leaves behind her faithful, companion, and fur baby, Alice.
