Mary Audeane Johnson was born February 2, 1916, near Bonham in Fannin County. She passed away July 2, 2015, in Lubbock, a few months shy of her 100th birthday. In 1920, she moved with her parents, John Leonard and Clara Briley Whited, to a farm overlooking the canyon east of the town of Southland in Garza County.She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Southland. She married Laverne Johnson on November 29, 1933, and they farmed near Southland until 1940. They moved to the Owens community in Crosby County and continued farming.
Laverne passed away on November 10, 1972, and Audeane stayed on the farm until about 1990. She moved to Ralls and lived there until she moved to Lubbock in 2006. Audeane was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls for many years.
She preceded in death by her parents, three brothers ( Herman, Kenneth, and Wayne), one sister ( Mattie), many other relatives, and many friends.
Audeane is survived by a son, David Max Johnson of Lubbock, a daughter, Carolyn Jan Johnson of Lubbock, cousins, nephews, and many dear friends.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday July 6, 2015, at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel, with burial to follow in the Ralls Cemetery, under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Online condolences can be made at www.adamsfuneral.com
