Obituary

Marvin Earl Schoepf, age 82, proud Christian, Family Man and Crosby County Farmer, passed from this earth at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, January 17 th , 2022.  Marvin was born in a farmhouse in Crosby County near Estacado Texas on October 1 st , 1939, to Earl Thomas and Vida Lou (Harris) Schoepf.

Marvin attended Lorenzo High School and graduated in 1958.  During his freshman year, at just 15 years old, he would meet the love of his life, Loreeta Hill who was a year younger than him.  They married on April 10 th , 1959, and would go on to have 3 children and numerous grandchildren. In their 62 married years, they would build a farming family legacy that has since been passed down to the next 2 generations…and counting. Farming and Family were Marvin's greatest passions.

Soon after marrying Loreeta in 1959, Marvin embarked on a career in farming that would span over 5 decades.  He started out as a simple tenant farmer and would plead his case to surrounding landowners to just give him a chance to farm their land. He knew that with hard work, sweat, prayer, faith, and little bit of worry on the side, his family's livelihood laid in the rich soil of Crosby County. He harvested his first crop in the fall of 1960 and never looked back. That operation that began back in 1960 is still in existence today being passed on to his sons and grandsons, and some great grandsons on the horizon, with his retirement in 2016.

As his sons took a larger role in the operations, Marvin turned some of his attention to service organizations.  He served as a member of the Board of Directors for South Plains Electric Cooperative for 30 years before retiring in 2020. He also served as President of the Board of Pleasant Hill Cooperative Gin for numerous years. Additionally, he served as a committee member of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District as well as the Crosby County Farm Service Agency, to name a few.

He was a Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Lorenzo and taught Sunday School for most of his life in varying capacities.

While his first loves were his wife and family, he also loved homemade ice cream, black eyed peas, corn on the cob, field grown watermelon and tomatoes, Sunday morning pancakes, John Deere tractors, going to Church, baseball, Texas Ranger Games, restoring old cars and tractors with his sons and grandkids, Lorenzo's 4 th of July Parades, Schoepf Family Reunions, morning coffee, shooting guns, reading western books, watching YouTube, and teaching grandkids to drive.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, and grandsons Trevor, Ross, and Brody.

Marvin is survived by his wife, sisters Marylin and Cynthia, sister-in-law Frances, son Bryan and Tina, son Mark and D'Ann, daughter Janet and Brett. Grandchildren Allen and wife Melissa, Matt and wife Mary, Tamara, John, Josh and wife Courtney, Truett, Brittany, and Tucker. Great Grandchildren Christian, Tavian, Wesley, Ty, Kimber and Levi.  Best Friends and Travel Partners Bobby and Sharon Brown.
