Marquitta Loy (Barton) Montgomery, 77, of Crosbyton and Benbrook, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016. She was born June 4, 1938 in Spur, TX to the late Norris Carr & Edna Lorene (McDorman) Barton, and was married to Ernest William (Bill) Montgomery on May 4, 1957 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married for 50 years, before his death on January 4, 2008. Marquitta worked as a registered nurse at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital for twenty years and was a cherished member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Crosbyton.
She is survived by her sister, Cardella Slaughter; her children, Lila Bass and husband Mike; James Montgomery and wife DeLoyce; Ginger Jerden and husband Brian; Amy Sharp and husband Colby, and Jon Montgomery. She was blessed with seven grandchildren; Daniel and Kaitlin Jerden; Grant, Abbie and Grayson Sharp; Brittnee Montgomery; and Krystal Herrera; one great-grandson, Jayden Herrera.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, March 21st at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Tuesday, March 22nd, at the Primitive Baptist Church in Crosbyton, with burial following in Roaring Springs Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
