Margaret Lucille was born into the arms of her parents, John and Flossie (Everett) Johnson on October 24, 1924 in O'Donnell. Her heavenly father's loving arms welcomed her home on September 8, 2016.
She graduated from O'Donnell High School May 12, 1941 and eloped that very day with her high school sweetheart, Guy Thompson. Following WWII Guy & Margaret moved to Crosbyton and started their dry cleaning business. Margaret worked by her husband's side at the dry cleaners for 43 years and both were real estate brokers. She was an accomplished seamstress. Her much-loved past time for many years was raising various domestic birds.
In 1981 she was honored as the Woman of the Year in Crosbyton. Among her many activities, she was recognized for her participation in PTA, Band Boosters, Room Parent for many years. Margaret was instrumental in getting a swimming pool for Crosbyton and taught free swimming lessons to local youth. She helped organize the Summer Youth program where she also coached softball. She served as a director on the Chamber of Commerce, member of the board of the Pioneer Memorial Building, Community Development Grant, and other civic organizations. In later years, her volunteer work served the needs of many elderly and disabled both in the community and at the Care Center. Margaret accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at 10 years of age and she has been a member of the First Baptist Church, Crosbyton since 1946.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Hardy (Norman) of Mcdoo, Donna Stump of Possum Kingdom Lake, and Nancille Gallimore (Kraig) of Elgin, brother, Dan Johnson (Barbara) of Dumas, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The hearts of her family and her many friends will be heavy with her passing but we are thankful that her life made many lives happier, richer and a lot more fun.
Family visitation will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton. Services will be held at 2:00 Monday, September 12 First Baptist Church, Crosbyton. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Crosbyton Care Center Employee Fund, 222 N Farmer, Crosbyton or First Baptist Church Bus Fund, 300 Birch, Crosbyton 79322.
