Magdalena "Mom" Ruiz

Magdalena Ruiz, 102 of Ralls, TX. died on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1918 in Donna, TX to Juan Amando Moreno and Maria Elodia Vidaurre. Magdalena married Jose Ruiz in Fashing, TX on July 17, 1936.

Magdalena is preceded in death by; her husband, Jose, eight sisters, nine brothers, one daughter, one son, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories are two brothers, Lionel Moreno from Mathis, TX., Gocha Moreno from Corpus Christi; ten daughters, Margarita Calderon, Mary Velasquez, Oralia Deleon, Ofelia Ruiz all from Ralls, Delfina Gonzalez from Stamford TX., Irene Guzman from Shallowater TX., Olga DeLaRosa from Floresville TX., Pauline Ruiz, Janie Pena from Lubbock TX., Solia Rodriguez from Abernathy TX.; three sons Joe from Crosbyton TX., Domingo, from Tazewell TN., David from Lubbock TX.; 50 grandchildren; 134 great-grandchildren; 150 great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Magdalena, better known to all as Mom, enjoyed quilting and each one of her children will cherish the ones made for them with her loving hands. Her biggest joy was having all of her daughters spend the night for the weekend and stay up til the wee hours of the night playing Loteria and Phase 10. Many times Mom was asked if she was ready for bed which her reply was a firm no and to get the next game started.

Thank you to the Calvert Hospice nurses (Lesley) and her caregiver Teresa Salas for taking such good care of her in these final moments.

Mom was an incredible blessing to the many people that she encountered throughout her many years.
