Lynda Beth Harkins, 87, of Idalou, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026, to join the Lord and her husband.

Lynda was born in May, Texas, to the late Horace and Martha Thomas. She attended business college in Abilene, where she met her beloved husband, J.V. The two were married in August of 1958 and shared 54 devoted years together.

She is survived by two daughters, Serena Harkins (Karen) of Granite Shoals and Katrina Harkins of Lubbock; son, Damon Harkins (Brittany) of Bastrop; her brother, Ronnie Thomas of Lubbock; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Lynda well, knew that she loved the Lord and her family almost as much as she loved chocolate candy, coffee, homemade ice cream, and fudge. The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who lovingly brought her treats—especially homemade chocolate fudge.

The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at the Callandar House for the compassionate care they provided over the past two years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4th, at 10:30 a.m. at Idalou Methodist Church.

Because Lynda dearly loved Easter sunrise services, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund at Idalou Methodist Church, P.O. Box 885, Idalou, TX 79329. If you prefer to send flowers, they may be delivered to Adams Funeral Home in Ralls prior to the service or brought to the church that morning.
