Leslie William "Bill" Wood, 90, of Lubbock passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016. Bill was born in Marietta, OK on April 15, 1925 to William Columbus "Lum" and Ima Jones (Kitchens) Wood. He worked for the railroad for many years and also worked as a blacksmith and welder at Inman's Welding Service in Tulia. In his spare time, Bill loved to go fishing. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the VFW.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lum and Ima ; three brothers, Robert, Jimmy and John; and four sisters, Dolly, Carol, Patsy, and Eva Lou.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Hancock and husband Tracy of Lubbock; two sons, Jerry Wood and wife Joan of Midland; Billy Wood and wife Frances of Lubbock; his sister; Debbie Copeland and husband Wayne of Sunray; his brother Jack Wood and wife Betty of Georgia; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 4pm to 6pm Tuesday, April 5, at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 6, at Crosbyton Cemetery in Crosbyton, Texas, with Rev. Les Reed officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
