Obituary

Keim Kimbrough Melton, 70, of Lubbock, passed away on September 4, 2026.

Keim was born on August 13, 1956, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Bob and Billie Watts Kimbrough. She graduated from Ralls High School in 1974 and married Jim Melton on August 19, 1977, in Ralls, Texas.

She devoted much of her life to her family and to caring for others. A homemaker, she found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren.

Keim and Jim lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico, for six years, where they opened their home and hearts to foster children. After returning to Lubbock, Keim continued her commitment to helping children and families by volunteering for CASA of Lubbock for several years. She also dedicated countless hours to Lubbock Southwest Little League and the Lubbock Pony/Colt League.

She loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Ruidoso and Red River, New Mexico, and Midway Ranch, Colorado. Family was always at the center of her travels, and trips to Texas Tech football bowl games became treasured annual traditions and the source of many wonderful memories.

Above all, Keim loved her family. She will be remembered for the care she gave to others, the time she devoted to her children and grandchildren, and the many memories created with the people she loved most.

Keim is survived by her husband, Jim Melton; daughter, Jennifer Navarro of Lubbock; sons, Joey Melton of Lubbock, and Jason Melton and wife, Jade, of Lubbock; sister, Elisha Reese of Ralls; four grandchildren, Bradley Melton, Destiny Wilkinson, Zachary Wilkinson, and Bryce William Melton; as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Billie Watts Kimbrough.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 5:30pm to 6:30pm at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls, Texas.
