Kathleen Ragland 76, of Ralls passed away and joined her heavenly father on 29 th of January 2019 following a lengthy illness of Dementia and lung issues. A visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Kathleen was born December 27, 1942 in Ralls, Texas. She graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1961 and married the love of her life, husband Ronnie on December 27, 1961 in Crosbyton. They had been married for 57 years.

Kathleen had the biggest heart the world has ever known with a tremendous passion for special needs children. In fact, her desire to impact Special Ed. Students was so strong when she created and established her very own "Satellite School" in Ralls before special needs students could attend public schools. She taught there and impact physically handicap students for 4 years from (1967-70). She taught herself and her students sign language, which many of the student's parents did not know, to strengthen communication between herself and her hearing-impaired students.

Later she and her husband, along with her brother Bill Boyd bought the former Rowden's Western Wear Store in Ralls which was renamed "B & R Arena" and remained a successfully business for 5 years from (1977-1982).

One of Kathleen's greatest accomplishments was receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Texas Tech University in May of 1987.

She then continued her passion in teaching Special Ed. and joined the teaching staff at Ralls ISD for 2 years (1987-1989) where she continued to teach and touch the lives of many mentally and physically handicapped students that only a special caring and loving person like herself could do.

She was also a huge fan of 4-H and served as a volunteer leader of over 25 years. She was extremely proud and honored to have received the following County, District, and State 4-H Adult Leader Awards for her many years of dedication and service to the 4-H Youth Program: Crosby County 4-H Outstanding Adult Leader Award, District 2 4-H Distinguished Adult Leader Award, and the Texas 4-H Salute to Excellence Adult Leader Award.

She was a devoted loving wife, a caring and supportive mother and an incredible grandparent (Gi Gi). She enjoyed fishing (as long as the weather wasn't too hot or too cold), serving and being active in her church, and most importantly spending time and traveling to the many events with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Delinda, and parents E.O. and Opal Boyd.

Those who will continue to cherish her memories are her husband Ronnie, son Dr. J. D. Ragland and wife, Angela of Canyon, daughter Shanon Davis of Idalou, her brother Bill Boyd,  three grandchildren; Brady Ragland of San Antonio, Cutter Davis of Ralls, and Skylar Davis of Idalou.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all the nurses and staff at Library of Legacy in Slaton for their heart filled care of Kathleen for the past 2 years and Accolade Hospice of Lubbock for their service throughout her final days.

The family also request that all memorials be forwarded to the First United Methodist Church of Ralls (517 Watts Ave. Ralls, Texas 79325), or the charity of your choice.
