June Britton Ellis was born in Floydada, Texas on September 29, 1931 to Lester M and Irene Warren Britton.
She graduated from Floydada High School in 1949. Family moved to Crosbyton in 1950. She married Roy Lee Ellis on November 6, 1951 after he came home from Korea. Three boys; Roy, Doyle, and Neale and one girl, Beverly were born to this union.
June worked for the Crosby County Clerk and later for the Federal Land Bank of Spur for over 21 years, retiring in December 1995. Doing the one thing she loved was belonging to the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron of Crosbyton Chapter #891 and the last past years a member of Floydada Chapter #31. She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church for over 60 years and loved to attend the Methodist Church for as long as she could. She loved all the people who attended church services with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee in 1980, her son Neale in 1986, and her son Roy in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Irene; 2 sisters, Marion Ann and Norma Bryant, and one nephew, Monty Kirby.
Surviving her is her son Doyle Ellis and wife Lynell of Alvin, TX and her daughter Beverly and husband Randy Robertson of Hobbs, NM; three grandsons, Leigh Ellis (Donna) of Conroe, Brandon Robertson (Caitlyn) of Hobbs, NM, Michael Robertson (Charla) of Lusk, WY; 2 granddaughters, Desiree Robertson of Laurence, KS, Heather Garcia (Adrian) of Lubbock and six great grandbabies. Also surviving is one sister, Jo Kirby (Weldon) of Montague, TX; two brothers, Bobby Britton (Dorothy) of Lubbock, TX, James Britton of Missouri; she also leaves a great number of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
