Julian R. Salas, 88 of Nell, TX, passed away after a brief illness on February 9, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. He was known for being a hardworking, dedicated and loving family man as well as a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Despite the illness, he remained strong and determined to come home until the very end.

Julian was born on February 16, 1937 to Juanita Rodriguez Salas and Bicente Salas Sr in Nell, TX. Throughout his life he had multiple occupations, starting with being a farm worker/seasonal harvester then began working at Bandis industry now known as Lhoist Industry in 1984 until his retirement in 2011. He met Carmen Hernandez Salas while working in the cotton fields in 1960, they married shortly after on September 6, 1961. Julian and Carmen moved to Nolanville, TX in 1984 where they began their family legacy, Julian leaves behind a legacy of dedication, compassion and care that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Julian was preceded in death by both of his parents Juanita and Bicente Salas, Siblings: Justo Salas, Ruben Salas, Gloria Contreras and Jesusa Cuellar, Children: Norman Salas, Norma Salas and Sarah Salas. Survivors include wife Carmen H. Salas, Children: Harvey Salas (Helen), of Nolanville, David Salas (Olivia) of Ralls, JoAnn Merithew (Leonard) of Nolanville, Norma Salas of Nolanville and Joey Salas (Bobbi) of Nolanville. 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren whom they will miss terribly and will never forget the father, brother, uncle and friend everyone loved.
