Obituary

Juanita (Rawls) Cook passed away March 17, 2020 at her residence.

Iris Juanita Rawls was born to Annie and Lonnie Rawls January 24, 1928 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She grew up in Various cities across Louisiana and Texas. At 17, she moved to Houston where she started work as a telephone operator.

Through her friend Juanita Sanderfer she became involved in the social media of the day. She became a pen pal to L.W. Cook, a West Texas country boy serving his country in Germany during World War II.

After L.W.'s return to the states, their courtship turned to marriage on March 20, 1947.The city girl and country boy became a family, living and bringing children into this world across the western United States. During this time Juanita went back to school becoming an LVN, again meeting her calling of taking care of people.

Texas always called them home, and in 1985 they settled for good in Crosby county living on the L7 ranch until L.W.'s passing in 2003. Juanita continued to embrace the country life until her passing on March 17, 2020.

Juanita is survived by her children; Cathy, Joyce, Helen, Ellen, Sue, Joan, Frances, Judy, Billy, Linda, Terry and Bobby; numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

Waiting to meet Juanita at those Pearly Gates were her loving husband L.W., sons Jimmy and Jerry, grandson Kenneth, and great grandchildren Cheyenne and Tanner.

She was kind and very much loved.

What a Legacy.

A private graveside service was held Friday, March 20, 2020 at Crosbyton Cemetery.
