Jesse Johnson passed away Saturday January 26, 2019. Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 2 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Ralls, burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday February 1 at 3-6:00 at the Adams Funeral Home in Ralls. A wake will be held at 6:30-8 P.M. at the Shiloh Baptist Church of Ralls.

Jesse Johnson Jr., 91, was born in Winnfield, Louisiana to Jesse and Cornelius Johnson on December 19, 1927. Jesse was raised in Winnfield and married Luretta Pearson on July 19, 1948. To this union six children were born. Jesse served in the army as a military police officer.

Jesse moved his family to Ralls, Texas in 1962. He was employed at the Grain Elevator, Ralls ISD, and South Plains Dialysis Center in Lubbock. After retirement, Mr. Johnson contributed his time and energy to the community. He was actively involved in the South Plains Commission of Government, VFW, and the County Extension Agent for the family and consumer size. Jesse was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon from 1987 until his health began to fail. He also enjoyed driving people to their appointments regardless of who they were.

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 61 years. Those left to cherish his memories are his children; Gwendolyn (Willie) Peters of Winnfield, Louisiana, Danny Johnson and Lynda (Pat) Shelby of Lubbock, Bruce Johnson of San Antonio, Cynthia (T.L.) McQueen, and Gail Johnson of Ralls, Johnny Ray (Deionna) Carpenter and Dianne Peters of Winnfield, Louisiana. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, a special cousin Ora Lee Duboise, a special Aunt Cloretha McGill, and many more relatives and friends.
