Jerry Wayne Bartlett of Ransom Canyon, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the age of 85 years. He was born on July 31, 1935 in Meadow, Texas to Buster and Katherine (Doll) Bartlett. He graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1953 and attended Draughon's Business College before starting his career in farming. He married the love of his life, Novice Marlar, on June 2, 1957 in Lorenzo, Texas. They had 63 wonderful years together.
Jerry was very active in the Lorenzo and Petersburg communities. He served as an advisory board member of the Lorenzo State Bank, Director of the Petersburg Coop Gin, member of the Cowboy Symposium Board and member of the Ransom Canyon Chapel Board. After farming for over 40 years in Floyd and Crosby counties, Jerry and Novice retired to the Ransom Canyon community. He spent his retirement fishing, playing dominoes, working on projects with friends and taking care of anyone that needed help.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Novice; daughters, Becky Drachenberg and husband Richard of Lubbock and Brenda Jobe and husband Melvin of Amarillo; grandchildren, Amy Swan and husband Joel of Mason, Kali Hepker and husband Erik of Littleton, Colorado, Kaitlyn Chavez of Amarillo, Ty Chavez and wife Jordan of Dallas and Ashlyn Chavez of San Marcos; great-grandchildren, Abi, Chloe, Steyr and Ruger Swan and Beck, Lyla and Dallas Hepker; sister, Bobbye Young and husband Dale of Lubbock; brother, Doyle Bartlett and wife Brenda of McKinney; double cousin, Charles Perry and wife Betty of Dallas.
Viewing will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.
The family invites you to celebrate Jerry's life on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ransom Canyon Fellowship Church. The family request that everyone please wear mask and follow social distancing guidelines. For those who cannot attend, the service will be aired on the Ransom Canyon Fellowship Church facebook page.
The family suggests memorials to the Texas Boys Ranch, 4810 North County Road 2800, Lubbock, Texas 79403.
