Jean McDermett Ayers was born December 31, 1938 in Natalia, TX to Linnie and Edith Beedy McDermett. She left this world on Friday, January 19, 2024.

Jean was a graduate of Ralls High School. She married T.W. "Red" Ayers in Lubbock, TX. She worked for South Plains Telephone Cooperative for many years until her retirement. She and Red enjoyed travelling and meeting new people, as she never met a stranger. Jean loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.

She is survived by one daughter, Kelli Anderson and husband Bill of Crosbyton, TX; one sister, Rosalyn Rainwater of Floydada, TX; two grandchildren, Taylor Pollard and husband William of Quail, TX, and Dusty Anderson and wife of Hailee of Crosbyton; and one great-grandson, Grayson Pollard.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Red; her parents; one brother, Lawrence McDermett; and three sisters, Helen Jenkins, Joyce Whitehead and Dorothy Collins.
