James H Jamerson 82 of Ralls passed away Tuesday August 22, 2017. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday August 25, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Ralls, burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
James was born on October 7, 1934 in Grassburr Texas to Alvin J. and Mary Fern Grise Jamerson. He graduated Idalou High School in 1952 and attended Texas Tech University. James married the love of his life Mary Helen Wicks on March 13, 1959 in Ralls Texas. He was always going out of his way to help people and had a servant's heart. James was a past president of the Hereford and Ralls Rotary Club. He was a 60 Year Master Mason and member of Emma Lodge 931 where he served as Master of the Lodge five different times and was serving as the current Master at the time of his death, and was a 32 nd Degree Scottish Right Member. He served as a paramedic with the Ralls EMS for 28 years and served as the Crosby County Emergency Services Coordinator. James was named Volunteer of the Year by SPEMS. He was a Texas EMS Course Coordinator and Instructor holding classes in Matador, Spur, Jayton, Ralls and Floydada. James also worked with the Boy Scouts and was on the Edge Board of Directors. He coached kids in Little League and Senior League baseball and helped construct the baseball fields they use today. James loved farming and ranching and the outdoor life. He retired from SPS after many years of service. James loved his community and his community loved him back and he will be sorely missed.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Helen of Ralls, one daughter Kathylyn Sedgwick and husband Dale of Ralls, a son Calvin Jamerson and wife Tina of Houston, and one sister Hellen Shoemaker of Lubbock. James also leaves behind grandchildren; Sarah and Cortni Jamerson of Elgin, David and Leanne Jamerson of Ralls, Spencer Sedgwick of Round Rock, and Saryssa and Brice VanBibber of Ralls and William Allbrook and wife Jessica of Laurel Miss. And one great grandchild Katy Allbrook.
