Obituary

James Kenneth Adams, 70, departed this life and joined his Heavenly father on Monday, February 1, 2016.
Kenny was born on November 24, 1945 in Ralls, Texas to Jimmie and Naomi Adams. Kenny graduated from Ralls High School in 1964 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Caddell, in 1966. He and Barbara lived and farmed in the Ralls community while raising their two children. Kenny was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Ralls, where he was known as "the candy man", but he also loved his many friends at his adopted church—First Baptist Church of Broaddus, Texas. Kenny loved life, especially hunting, fishing at Lake Sam Rayburn, visiting with good friends, and attending his grandchildren's athletic competitions and stock shows. Kenny was blessed to be able to watch all his grandchildren grow into adulthood and to have become a great-grandfather. Whenever friends or acquaintances asked how he was doing, Kenny always replied, "I don't believe I've ever had it this good."

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Naomi Adams and a brother, Neil Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Ralls; daughter Janet Thornton and husband Philip of Idalou; and son Layne Adams and wife Dawn of Ralls. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ruth Caddell, of Ralls, and his grandchildren: Micah Reaves (Bryan), Garrett Thornton (Breeann), Morgan Duncan (Hayden), Haileigh Adams, Darby Thornton, Chase Espe (Morgan), and Blake Greer. Kenny was also blessed in the past year with two-great grandchildren, Graham Reaves and Bentley Espe. Kenny is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Brenda Crump and James and Tretha Caddell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls. A memorial service for Kenny will be held at First Baptist Church in Ralls at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3 under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

The family requests memorials be made in Kenny's honor to Plains Baptist Assembly and First Baptist Kitchen Fund.
