Graveside services for Ireta Polvadore Long, 78, will be held at the Crosbyton Cemetery on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2 p.m. under the direction of Adams Funeral Home. Ireta crossed over into the loving arms of her heavenly father on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

Ireta was born on May 1, 1941 in Floyd county and married her sweetheart Jimmy Long on October 21, 1958.  As a native and lifetime resident of Crosbyton, Texas, Ireta attended Crosbyton schools, was a member of the First Baptist Church, volunteered at the Crosbyton Care Center, Crosbyton Senior Citizens, and delivered for Meals on Wheels; Ireta also worked at the Crosbyton City Office for 33 years before retiring. Before settling down and building a home in Crosbyton, Ireta lived with her husband, Jimmy in Germany while he was stationed there in the Army from 1959-1960.

In addition to obtaining her real estate license, Ireta also served a term as the City Judge. Ireta's influence on the youth of Crosby County was not limited to this capacity only. While her sons attended Crosbyton schools, Ireta was a very active parent sharing her love of sports and supporting the city's youth through livestock in 4-H.

Ireta had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren. Upon retirement, Ireta and Jimmy were often found travelling across the country in their RV. She had a very special place in her heart for the mountains and could often be found relaxing with a strong cup of her favorite coffee amongst the tall pine trees in Ruidoso, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents Doyel Polvadore in 1984, Ollie Richardson Hash in 2001, and a brother, Donald Earl Polvadore, in 1936. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Long of Crosbyton; two sons, Doyel Long of Lubbock, and Terry Long of Abilene; two sisters, Brenda Sudduth of Amarillo, and LaVeta Butler of McGregor; grandchildren, Tayler Martinez, Hillary Bell, Madison Long, Tracy James Long, Kendra Kruse and Bryden Kruse, as well as a host of extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to the Alzheimer's Association .
