Rev George Albert Van Hoose, age 93, of Brownwood, TX, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, in Brownwood. He was born in Bridgeport, TX, on September 12, 1927, to the late Joseph Young Van Hoose and Minnie May Morton Van Hoose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Parker Van Hoose, who went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2011. Also, his brothers Joe Marvin Van Hoose of Chico, TX, L.J. Van Hoose and Edgar Lee Van Hoose both of Bridgeport, TX, and his step-mother, Effie Margaret Averitt Van Hoose, of Forest Park, TX. N He is survived by all six of his children, Sam J Van Hoose (and wife Nelda), of Plainview, TX; Albert Richard (Dick) Van Hoose (and wife Denise) of Lubbock, TX; Becky Donella Van Hoose Benefield (and husband Eddie) of Brownwood, TX; Dorise Ann Van Hoose House (and husband Terry) of Canton, GA; Georgia Gail Van Hoose Browder of Ralls, TX; and Homer Calvin Van Hoose (and wife Laurie) of Plainview, TX; one sister; Martha Ozella Ensy of Tyler, also 17 grandchildren (David Sean Van Hoose, Patrick Shane Van Hoose, Carl Russell Van Hoose, Leslie Nichole Van Hoose Stark, Joshua Kennen Van Hoose, Jason Lee Benefield, Allison Alane Benefield Lucier, John Van Benefield, Cheryl Ja'Lyn House Wilson, Kristy Michelle House Gaddis, Kimberly Michelle House Presley, Marcus Neal Tanner, Jennifer Renee Tanner Colley, Misty Ranee Van Hoose Leonard, Daniel Paul Van Hoose, Kraig Allen Van Hoose, and Rebecca Dawn Van Hoose Bartlett); along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Rev. Van Hoose had been a minister since the age of 16. He and Florence built a life together, after knowing each other only 6 weeks before they married in 1946, in Bridgeport, TX. They raised their children and pastored numerous churches in North Texas and West Texas districts of the Assemblies of God. He retired from pastoring in 2015, and went to live in Brownwood, TX, at that time.

Arrangements by Adams Funeral Home in Ralls, TX. Service will be held at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Floydada, TX, at 2 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021, for immediate family only, with Rev Glen Beaver and Rev Neil Unwin officiating. Graveside service will follow at Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. David Barnum officiating, at 3:15 pm for anyone wishing to attend. As requested by the family, those wishing to remember their father in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Trinity Assembly of God Church, 500 West Houston St, Floydada, TX, 79235.
