Gayle Hawes Sechrist passed away Wednesday February 9, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born October 13, 1944 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Richard Edward and Lorna Bauer Hawes. She graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio and later received her Bachelor's in Education
from Texas Tech. She married the love of her life Alvin Sechrist on June 10, 1967 in San Antonio, Texas. Gayle taught second grade for 30 years in Cotton Center and Anton. She loved her students; pushing them to succeed in the classroom and supporting them outside of school. Gayle enjoyed swimming, golf and bowling. She stayed very active and loved Tech sports. Gayle was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She supported her two sons by attending countless sporting and academic events and church activities. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Jacqueline Polocek of Sonora.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Alvin of Lubbock; her sons, Kyle Sechrist and wife Ruby of Frisco, Matt Sechrist and wife Katie of League City; her brother Kent Hawes and wife Carole of Universal City; and four grandchildren, Kaylen, Jenson, Cruz, and Kai.
Services will be held Sunday February 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Lorenzo. Burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Online condolences can be made at www.adamsfuneral.com
