Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that we announce, Emelina Garcia, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on May 30, 2026. She was born on January 1, 1942, in General Terrán, Nuevo León, Mexico, Emelina was one of 13 children born to Herminio and Dolores Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lucas V. Garcia in 2011; Parents, Herminio and Dolores Gonzalez; and sisters, Agripina Carranza, Josephina Rendon, Lupita Gonzalez and Guillermina Garcia.

She is survived by her seven children: Guadalupe Garcia (daughter Leslie and Emelina's eldest grandchild); David Garcia (children Jacob, Seth, and Karina); Juvencio Garcia (children Timothy, Tori, and Joseph); Celia Garcia (children Luke, Hannah, Matthew and Brianna); Nina Carrizales (children Matthew, Avery and Emily); Aaron Garcia (children Ryan and Kristiana); and Emelina's youngest daughter, Ruth Ann Garcia. She is survived by an abundance of 15 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Urbano Gonzalez, Ernestina Sanchez, Petra Mireles, Dora Resio, Juanita Lopez, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Israel Gonzalez and Eudelia Gonzalez.

Emelina was raised in the serene surroundings of Canoas, Nuevo León, where her family built a modest home nestled among the mountains—a place she cherished and returned to visit throughout her adult life. In search of new beginnings, the family moved to Reynosa, Tamaulipas, where they secured work visas and immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in Mission, Texas. There, the family established their roots, building the home where Emelina resided until her marriage to the love of her life, Lucas V. Garcia, on April 2, 1967.

From a young age, Emelina possessed a heart of extraordinary compassion. Her mother often sent her to the plaza in Reynosa to sell corn tortillas; however, she would frequently return home having given the tortillas to the hungry. When asked about her earnings, she would simply explain that she had given the food to the needy, moved by her deep compassion, for those in need. This spirit of generosity and service defined her life. Emelina was a devoted woman of God, known for her boundless hospitality and her unwavering commitment to sharing the word of salvation with everyone she met. She was a faithful member of Templo Maranatha in Crosbyton, Texas, for many years, later serving at Templo Ríos De Agua Viva in Ralls, Texas, alongside her beloved husband. Following his passing, she became a cherished member of Templo Nueva Vida in Ralls, Texas, where she formed many meaningful friendships.

Emelina leaves behind a legacy of faith and love. We are eternally indebted to our Lord Jesus Christ for choosing such a strong, compassionate, and God-fearing woman to be our mother for 58 years. Emelina will be greatly missed, and she will be loved by her family and friends…ALWAYS. We will forever cherish the beautiful memories we all created together. As Mom always said, "I love you… ALWAYS!"
