Elna Jean Eldredge Williams passed away in her home in Lubbock, TX on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at LakeRidge Methodist Church in Lubbock with Susanne Wampler and Robbie Harris officiating.
Jean Williams (aka: Meme, Mimi) was born November 7, 1929, in McAdoo, Texas to the late Ben and Ollie (Phifer) Eldredge. She resided in McAdoo until 2005 when she and Eldon moved to Lubbock. Jean attended school in McAdoo, graduating from McAdoo in 1946 and attended and graduated from Texas Tech. She met and married the love of her life Eldon Lee Williams in 1945 in McAdoo. They were married on June 18, 1950. She taught school in Dickens, McAdoo, and Spur, retiring in 1986 after 33 years. She was a member of McAdoo United Methodist Church until 2007 where she taught Sunday School class and served as organist. She later transferred to LakeRidge Methodist Church on April 1, 2007, where she was a member of Primetimers, Foundation Class, helped make heart pillows, assisted with funeral dinners in the church and loved baking sweets for local nursing homes. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Texas Teachers Retirement System, and Daughters of the American Revolution-Nancy Anderson Chapter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son-in-law Rod Shook.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbi Ball and her husband Benny of Spur, Cindy Shook of Lubbock, two grandchildren, Blake Ball and his wife Katrina of Lubbock, Elisha Reese and her husband Tim also of Lubbock, six great grandchildren, Kyler, Rielyn, Devin and Tylee Ball, Camden and Liam Reese all of Lubbock, and by her precious granddog Scrappy Doo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the McAdoo Methodist Church, the McAdoo Volunteer Fire Department, or Change for Children through LakeRidge Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 12, 2024 at McAdoo Cemetery.
