Edward Coppage, 78, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Lubbock. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Crosbyton. Cremation burial will follow in Crosbyton Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
Edward was born on February 11, 1939 in Mart, Texas. He grew up in Crosbyton attending school at Fred Douglas Elementary and Middle School. He graduated from Evans High School in Slaton in 1958. He served in the US Army from 1962-1964. After his discharge he returned to Crosbyton and married Emma Carr on June 19, 1964 and they were happily married for 53 years. He was a farmer for several years. He was a City Councilman for several years and also worked for the Caprock Community Action for several years. He was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 40 years. He also taught Sunday school for many years.
He is preceded in death by his mother: Marie Wiley, three brothers; Mitchell, Robert Earl and Wilbert, five sisters; Catherine, Aria, Nell, Texana, and Willie.
His family includes his wife Emma Coppage of Crosbyton, one daughter: Kristi Norsworthy and husband John of Lubbock, four sons; Edward Coppage, Jr. and wife Lola of Lubbock, Embry Coppage and wife Pearl of Plainview, Bobby Jackson of Amarillo and Willie Jackson of Lubbock, one brother; Billy Wiley of Crosbyton, three sisters: Verdie Cornelius, Odessa Lewis and Mabel Willis, all of Lubbock, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
