Dorothy Jo Grant, lovingly known as "Dottie," passed away at the age of 89 in Lubbock, Texas on Friday January 16th 2026. She was born on March 3, 1936, in Crosbyton, Texas. Dottie was preceded in death by her son, Pat Patterson of Shallowater, and her daughter-in-law, Vicki Patterson of Idalou. She is survived by her children: Joe Patterson and his wife, Jimmie, of Southland; Dana Hutnyak of Fort Worth; David Patterson of Idalou; Jimmie Patterson of Shallowater; and Jack Melton of San Antonio. She also leaves behind a large and loving legacy of 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Dottie was a true entrepreneur, owning and operating several businesses throughout her life. She worked as a beautician for many years, building lasting relationships with her clients, and later retired from Dillard's in Lubbock. No matter where she worked, Dottie's warmth, humor, and strong work ethic shone through. She was known for her fierce and unwavering love for her family, her contagious laugh, and her wonderful sense of humor. Dottie delighted in the jokes and tricks her children played on her while growing up, always laughing along and meeting life with joy and grace. Her presence filled a room, and her love left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Dottie's life was one of love, laughter, and dedication to family, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adam's Funeral Home in Ralls, Texas. Funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st, at First Baptist Church in Slaton, Texas. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Crosbyton Cemetery.
