Obituary

Dorothy Faye Arthur passed away February 20, 2018. Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday February 23, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Ralls. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Dorothy was born May 20, 1927 in the Farmer Community of Crosby County to Paul Franklin and Altha Pearl Cox Davis. She graduated from Ralls High School in 1944 and attended Draughons Business College.  She married Uel Arthur on January 1, 1945 in Ralls Texas; Uel proceded her in death on March 22, 2005. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist of Ralls; she was active in the Prairie Thimble Quilting Club, was a member of the RallsAthletic Booster Club, and helped out with the Boy Scout Troop in Ralls. Dorothy and Uel were the first recipients of the Mr. and Mrs. Cotton Boll award given by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce, recognized as "Farm Family of the Year" by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce, and named Agriculturist of the year for the Crosby County Farm Bureau. Dorothy kept very detailed records of the farm every year taking note of how much rainfall had occurred and the temperature of every day. She enjoyed gardening and canned everything she could.  Dorothy was a member of the Ralls Girls Quartet sharing gospel music throughout this area.  Her musical talents included Piano, Accordion, and Mandolin. She was an excellent cook and would take Thanksgiving dinner to the fields if the family was harvesting. She loved her grandchildren very much and she was known as Dot-Dot by them and many others.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Uel and a brother Wilmer Ray Davis.

Dorothy leaves behind a daughter; Kena Arthur of Ralls, two sons; Lonnie Arthur of Ralls and Lloyd Arthur and wife, Angela of Ralls. She also leaves behind four grandchildren; David, Brady, MaKayla, and Jadeyn Arthur. Family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Ralls.
