Charlotte Gibbs 88 of Lorenzo passed away December 7, 2025. Charlotte was born May 20, 1937, in Edgewood Texas to Ollie Odell and Mami Nell Valentine. In 1966 she married William Monroe Gibbs in Crosbyton, Texas. Charlotte was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lorenzo. She always found a way to stay busy, she loved doing crafts, painting, gardening and loved her family time, she loved spoiling her grandchildren .Outside of home activities Charlotte stayed busy as well, she was a longtime publisher and editor of the Lorenzo Examiner, she was the President of the Lorenzo Chamber of Commerce and she was a member of the Texas Press Women. Charlotte was the recipient of many awards including the Meritorious Service Award, Friend of 4-H Award, Outstanding Older Texas, Award of Merit for World of Poetry and was a Communicator of Achievement Nominee by Texas Press Women. She will be missed dearly by her friends and loved ones. And as she would always say, "I'm hanging in and hanging on".
Charlotte is preceded by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Bruce Smith and wife Pam of Graham, Kent Smith and wife Tracy of Crowell, Tammy Flores and husband Valentine of Lorenzo, Kevin Gibbs of Lorenzo, Pamela Plumley and husband Kelly of Pottsboro, and Danny Paul Gibbs of West Virginia; one brother, John Valentine of Ralls; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
