Carolyn Jan Johnson was born May 18, 1942 in Lubbock, TX. She passed away on December 20, 2016. She grew up on the family farm in the Owens community in Crosby County. She was a graduate of Ralls High School and Texas Tech University. Jan had several interesting jobs before she began her teaching career. She was a junior high teacher in Slaton for 30 years. She spoke often of her many former students. One of her favorites is now a Hollywood movie writer and director. As an English teacher, she was a gifted writer. A few years ago, a former high school classmate wrote a historical novel and asked her to edit his manuscript, for which he gave her credit.

Jan was a Christian and loved helping people even though she was limited by her many health problems. She liked animals and always had an affinity for cats.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Audeane Johnson and many relatives and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Max Johnson of Lubbock; numerous cousins; and many dear friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home.
