Obituary

Bud Hamilton, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed into the Lord's embrace on July 30, 2024, at the age of 92 in Gainesville, Florida.

Born on August 6, 1931, in Kipton, Ohio, Bud was the son of Homer and Mae Hamilton. Raised in Miami, Florida, he graduated from Miami High School and later earned his degree from the University of Florida. His journey of service began with the Air Force, where he was stationed at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. It was there that he met and fell in love with Jane Heard, whom he married on June 6, 1957. The couple settled in Gainesville, Florida, where Bud completed his electrical engineering degree at the University of Florida.

Bud's career took him first to California and then to Titusville, Florida where he worked on the Apollo mission. Ultimately, he moved to Harris Electronics where he worked in the field of reconnaissance and communications for military and intelligence applications during the cold war. His work at Harris Electronics, where he spent the majority of his career, was both impactful and innovative, culminating in his retirement in 1988.

Following his retirement, Bud and Jane enjoyed time at their cabin in the mountains of North Carolina, a peaceful retreat that was dear to them.

Bud was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jane. He is survived by his two sons, Trey Hamilton (Nancy) of Austin, Texas, and Mark Hamilton (Marilyn) of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel in Ralls, Texas, where Bud will be interred alongside Jane.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Bud and Jane Hamilton. Donations can be made online(https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html).
