Betty Joyce Pierce, 86, formerly of Crosbyton passed away June 28, 2024. Betty was born September 15, 1937, in Wake to William Truman and Rena Miller Barnett. Betty worked at Lowrie Drug and was a dispatcher for the Crosby County Sheriff's Office. She was elected in 1997 to serve as the Crosby County Clerk up until her retirement in 2005. Betty was very active in the Crosbyton Senior Citizens where she served on their board. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce as well as the First Methodist Church in Crosbyton. Betty moved to be closer to her family in 2018 to spend more time with her daughter, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved her community and was loved by so many; she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jackie Pierce; a brother, Jimmy Barnett, and a sister Ann Hays.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cherry Poor and husband Hollie of Royse City; a sister, Sue Deerman of Anthony, TX; three grandchildren, Kevin Poor and wife Delia, William Poor and wife Ashlee, and Choicy Pierce; five great grandchildren, Caleb, Cylee, Lucas, Matthew, and Laci.
A huge thank you to Colonial Lodge in Greenville, TX, along with their amazing staff, and very special friends Oleta Gann, Tommy Marrone, Pat Staples and Sabrina Franklin.
