Betty Ruth Oats, 89, of Round Rock, Texas passed away on Friday July 5, 2024. Betty was born in Cone, TX in 1935 to Ruth and Russell Noble. She was a 4th generation Texan and lived the majority of her years in Crosby and Lubbock County. The last 7 years she resided with her daughter, Beki Morris and husband Rik, in Round Rock, Tx.
Betty was the 6th of 7 children born to Ruth and Russell Noble. She graduated from Ralls High School in 1953, then attended Texas Tech University, where she met the father of her children, Doug Burrous, they were married for s12 years. In 1967 she married Tom Oats and they were married for 32 years. Tom preceded her in death in 1999, as well as her son, Noble Burrous. She is also preceded in death by 6 siblings, Bob Noble, Lucille Chappell, Grace Harvey, Joe Bailey Noble, Wade Noble, and Max Noble.
Through her life, Betty had several professions including being the first female Marketing and Sales member at KLBK television network, channel 13. She was a member and worked for the Welcome Wagon in Odessa and started a new chapter in Houston. Later, Betty served as property manager for Silver Village Apartments for 10+ years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lubbock. She also was the historian for the Ralls, Tx Museum. She was a published author of two books, "Pioneer Families at Cone, Texas. The Nobles and the Davis" as well as a book she wrote while in Odessa, "Black Gold".
Betty very much enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society, and her hobbies included entertaining, she was a fabulous cook, and she loved to embroidery. She made many Christmas stockings for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her later years, Betty was an avid reader, we were all astonished at how fast she could read. She always prioritized keeping up with her families' busy lives and loved to hear their stories, then she passed those stories along.
Those left to cherish her memories are children, Beki Morris and husband Rik, of Round Rock, TX. Dal Burrous and wife Kim of Lubbock, TX and Emily Castleman and husband Milton of Austin, TX. Her beloved grandchildren are Monica Telese and husband Rocky of Bellmore, NY, Morgan Stephanian and husband Stephen of Austin, TX, Erin Burrous McDonald of League City, and Jay Russell Burrous and wife Courtney of Dripping Springs, TX. Her 7 great grandchildren are Anthony Telese, Marcello Telese, Ethan Stephanian, Annabel Stephanian, Anna Margaret McDonald, Max McDonald, and Eleanor Claire Burrous.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock, TX on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:30am. The address is 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX
