Betty Sue Harrelson, 90, of Lorenzo passed away December 4, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Sue was born January 19, 1931 in Rising Star, TX to N.W. and Mabel Montgomery Weathermon. She attended school in Rising Star graduating Valedictorian of her class. She married Kenneth Gray on September 3, 1949 in Rising Star. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1997. She later married B.D. Harrelson. He preceded her in death in 2013.

She worked for, and later owned the Lorenzo Leader newspaper for several years, and then worked for the US Postal service until her retirement. Sue was very active in the Methodist church where she worked with the Methodist Youth Fellowship for many years. She also led the ladies Tuesday morning bible study. She a founding member of the Lorenzo Al-Anon.

Sue is survived by one son, David Gray and wife Michelle of Gorman, TX; one daughter, Suzanne Foust and husband Joe of Lorenzo; two step-sons, Steve Harrelson and Lloyd Harrelson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one sister, Billie Louise Glover.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 429, Lorenzo, TX 79343; or Lorenzo Senior Citizens Food Bank, P.O. Box 571, Lorenzo, TX 79343.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home in Lorenzo.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in Lorenzo with Revs. Kerry Hurst and Gary Eggart officiating. Interment will follow in Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
