Obituary

Augustine Cantu, 74 of Crosbyton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 9th, 2021. He was born June 30, 1947 in Mission, Texas to Luis and Ramona Cantu.

Augie was raised in Cone, Texas and attended Ralls ISD with his brothers. Augustine served in the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington before serving in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in August 1970. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Rodriguez on February 19, 1972 in Ralls, TX at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Augie had the biggest personality and could make anyone smile. He never went anywhere without making a new friend. He worked as a farm and ranch hand his entire life. His love and passion for working in the fields and with livestock was known by many. He could talk about cotton and horses for hours. He was blessed to work with farmers and ranchers from Crosby, Dickens and Garza County. Augie's biggest passion was his family. He loved being a Dad and a Popo. He worked long and hard hours, but always had time to sit and play with them every day. Augie loved sitting outside on his porch, tinkering with his tools and riding his lawn mower. He enjoyed it even more when his kids and his grandkids joined him. They were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his children Roxanne Cantu of Crosbyton, Gus Cantu and wife D'Nell of Petersburg, Angela Guerrero and husband Tony of Crosbyton, Ashley Cantu of Crosbyton and Alyson Ries and husband Jonathan of Canyon. Grandchildren Jared Cantu, Kiana Vasquez, Santos Bustos and wife Esperanza, Averi Cantu, Aaron Cantu, Marcos Guerrero, Matthew Guerrero, Joshua Cantu, Rachel Ries and his great grandsons Ezekiel and Easton Bustos. Siblings, Juan Cantu and wife Grace of Deer Park, and sister in law Margret Cantu of Cone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Esmael Cantu and wife Francis Cantu, Antonio Cantu; a niece Annabell Cantu; and a nephew Willie Joe Cantu.

Augustine left this world and entered Heaven's gates with the love of his life of almost 50 years.
